Scanning in Pain

More than 80% of sonographers experience work-related pain, and more than 20% of these suffer a career ending injury.

While injuries are traumatic individually, they affect all members of the department by impacting workflow, scheduling, staffing and budgets. Staffing shortages due to WRMSD result in revenue loss, medical bills, payout of worker’s compensation claims, and new staff recruitment.

Sonographers experience pain most often in the wrist, hand, neck and shoulder. This can be a result of prolonged scanning in non-neutral positions. Scanning in the neutral position will decrease stress and strain, and significantly increase comfort.

The iU22 and iE33 Solutions

iU22 iCOMMAND

iE33 Monitor

The lightweight flat panel monitor's fully articulating arm enables movement and placement unattainable until now. The monitor articulates independent of the control panel, and extends left to right for a range of 18-30 inches, raises and lowers over a range of 10 inches, swivels, and tilts.

The independently adjustable control panel features slide and swivel capabilities in addition to height adjustment. The display and controls can be moved close to you for reduced reach and improved comfort.

In addition to the monitor and control panel, the iU22 and iE33 systems incorporate other features that improve sonographer comfort. Its slim lightweight chassis and full swivel wheels make it exceptionally easy to maneuver close to the exam table as well as take it anywhere in the hospital for bedside exams.

The Explora transducers have ergonomic designs for increased comfort. New superflex transducer cable technology is extremely flexible and lightweight, further reducing user fatigue and stress on the wrist and hand.

The iU22 and iE33 systems' voice recognition technology, iCOMMAND, allows hands-free system control, significantly reducing keystrokes and awkward postures, and increasing sonographer comfort.
